Illamasqua’s Sculpting Powder Duo

For those that have been following my blog, you’ll know by now that I’m slightly obsessed with the whole Contour & Highlight thing, and naturally my quest for finding the best contour shades never ends. I recently got a hold of this powder duo and I must say I was very pleasantly surprised. It comes in 2 shades – Lumos- a soft sparkly champagne shade which is used as a highlighter and Heliopolis – a tannish matte brown for contour. I’ve used the Illamasqua Sculpting Powder Duo on my next makeover, so pics will be loaded soon. The texture of Heliopolis was so smooth and fine, it literally just glided onto the skin. I used the highlight on the bridge of the nose and the high planes of the cheeks. Even though Lumos is more shimmery, it doesn’t look cakey or too frosty. The two shades are a perfect combo and because it’s in a compact, it’s ideal to stick it into your purse for those glammed night outs. I would recommend this sculpting palette for light to medium skin tones. For sculpting around the nose the Real Techniques Domed Shadow brush is great to use for the sides of the nose, and the RT Contour brush is great for placing the highlighter on the high planes of the cheeks. And honestly, on a lazy day if you don’t want to rummage through your eyeshadows, you could easily dust Lumos on your eyelid and Heliopolis on your crease for a soft natural eye look ! This is a definite go to palette and has already become one of my staple must haves every time I start contouring my clients.
